I’m sure its been discussed before but I was just thinking about fashion in general. And how it is often described as an expression of ones self. You wear clothes you like or to give a particular image off about yourself. Hence how words such as ‘power dressing ‘ come in play. (Wearing suits etc to get your business side out).
But then how come if we supposedly are free to wear what we like, to give little glimpses into our personalities, ur lifestyles, what we like to do etc etc then why do magazines scream with:
TWENTY RULES FOR…..DRESSING SLIM
…..WEARING THAT LBD
….WEARING RED WITHOUT LOOKING LIKE A SLUT etc
If something has rules then surely that takes the fun away? (ohhhh can’t wear that… it’s against the rules)
Not only that but there is also the invented “fashion police “. (Personified in real people as Trinny and Susana). Who people always mention when some one is dressed what they think to be badly. “ohh watch out the fashion police might get you”.
Im being a hypocrite though. As much as I am flying the flag for wearing whatever you want im a strong believer in following the trends. Not blindly, but almost. This thought just crossed my head and I thought I’d write about it ….
